Dogs have always been my passion but I never thought about making a career out of it until I got involved in rescue. Seeing the dogs that would come in, needing new homes, needing a new outlook on their human and dog interactions, lit a spark inside me and was the push I needed to make a difference.
I graduated from Animal Behavior College as a certified dog trainer in May of 2019 and founded Lady and the Leash in July 2019. While I currently focus on helping clients teach their dogs the basics in obedience, my long term goal is to be able to focus more on behavior modification in those red-zone cases and offering a solution to those at their breaking point and hopefully preventing another dog from losing their life because of a correctable behavior.

When I am not working my day job as a paralegal, you can find me volunteering with the Fulton County Regional SPCA located in Gloversville, NY where I handle adoptions as well as an active board member.
I am also in the beginning stages of mentoring with a good friend and local trainer on being able to become proficient in the art of Natural Dog Training as a way to open the door to working on those tough cases.

I live in Gloversville with my husband George, my American rescue dog Athena, my rescue dog from Qatar, Tango, my foster fail from Kuwait, Benny, and my cat, Brinn. On occasion, you may find an extra pup at our house as we often foster for the Fulton County Regional SPCA or Puppy Rescue Mission to help dogs get into loving homes!
What People Say About Me
From the beginning of our puppy journey, Jen had our back. She guided us on adoption choices based on our family and our habits, to make sure we were the best fit. Jen has come to help us out on more than one occasion when we had no idea how to best guide our gigantic furry children. Jen was able to work with us on potty training and walking techniques, food and dog ownership needs, as well as answering our numerous random questions as a first time dog parents. Jen has been great in helping us train our young daughter on how to interact safely and intelligently with her favorite snuggle buddies. Jen has been able to provide suggestions on products and resources we can utilize moving forward, which is invaluable with all of the options out there. Knowing we have Jen available to help us has provided a great sense of calm dealing with all of the unknowns of pet ownership. She really is the best.

Jen is absolutely passionate about dogs. I’ve asked her for multiple consultations and general advice on how best to train and support my dogs; she is so generous with her knowledge. We’ve had group walks with her dog and mine, one-on-one visits in my home and she always follows up that day with training gear or other resources that we talked about during our meets. She’s great. You won’t find a better trainer. I am confident that with her help, my pup feels stable and secure in our home which is priceless.
